Fundraising to Benefit Camp Concern

"Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me…”

Mark 9:37

We hope that the pictures and information on these pages have given you a glimpse in to the power of the ministry of Camp Concern. As you know, Camp Concern is a Christian camp conducted for four weeks each summer at Raccoon Creek State Park in Hookstown, PA. It is sponsored and directed by members of the Churches of Christ in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia.

More than 30 years ago, Concern Inc. was formed by some God-fearing men who saw a need in this area for a Christian youth camp ministry. Since then, the work of Camp Concern has flourished! Literally hundreds of campers have put on Christ through baptism at the lake at Raccoon Creek State Park. Hundreds more have rededicated their lives to the Lord and shed sinful ways in favor of walking with Christ. Camp Concern campers range in age from 8 to 22, and each week is designed to meet the physical, mental, emotional and especially the spiritual needs of a specific age group.

For many years, Camp Concern operated three weeks of Camp. As the ministry grew and lives were touched, camper attendance also increased. In 2000, the Board of Directors added a fourth week to the Camp Concern schedule in order to accommodate as many campers as possible. The addition of this week was expensive, but it has been fruitful.  In 2004, a fifth session, College Age Retreat, was added to the schedule.

An Endowment Fund was established in 2000 in the hopes of raising money to keep the camper’s cost of a week of Camp Concern to a minimum (currently around $50) and to provide scholarships to campers who could not otherwise afford to attend camp. This Endowment Fund has been a great blessing to Camp Concern! If you’ve participated in this giving, we appreciate so much your support of Camp.

.

The continued growth of Camp Concern has led the Board of Directors to begin thinking about the future of this ministry. We’ve recently joined the National Association of Christian Camps among the Churches of Christ in the hope that we can increase our effectiveness by learning about other camps.

Additionally, we have begun to research the possibility of purchasing our own land to someday build our own campsite.

We are excited about the future of Camp Concern. We pray that you will consider making Camp Concern and the Endowment Fund a part of your regular giving. If you are already supporting this ministry financially, again, we thank you.

Please pray for Camp Concern. Whether or not you are able to make a financial gift, we ask that you support Camp Concern, the Endowment Fund and the future plans in your prayers.

Thank you for your support of Camp Concern, whether its been giving, staffing, sending your children, praying or advertising. Thank you for allowing God to work through you to ensure that Camp Concern continues to be successful in reaching today’s youth.
