Secondary Week

Secondary Week is the second week of our month-long Camp Concern session.  It is for campers ages 13-14.

Mickey Casey is the director of Secondary Week.  Mickey serves as an elder for the Holiday Park Church of Christ in Plum, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh.  Clyde Brothers, Camp Concern Board of Directors President, serves as assistant director.

About Secondary Week...

Like Senior Week, the 13 and 14 year olds of Secondary Week help to create a powerfully spiritual week.  The campfire is still the highlight of the day at camp; a special time when counselors and campers can enjoy intimate, quiet time with the Lord, praising Him in song and devotions.

Secondary Week campers attend hour-long Bible classes in the morning, centered around a common theme.  Bible classes are followed by special group activities, including craft times, "story time with Mickey", a music moment, and guided group discussions with counselors and teachers.  These group activities are valuable times of growth and togetherness when campers and counselors can share and learn on a casual level.

Campers sit at the same table at every meal, everyday in the mess hall, and these tables form teams to play softball, volleyball, washers and a non-sport activity with each other in Group Recreation.  After Group Rec., campers have the chance to compete for trophies in a variety of individual sports and table competitions.  For campers who don’t want to participate in such activities, this is a relaxing time to sit around and get to know each other.  Many campers do a mixture of the two to make for a full and rewarding day.

Like the other weeks, much emphasis is placed on the importance of Bible study in a week-long Bible Bowl competition.  Campers compete on teams and individually for trophies.

Mickey and his staff work hard to prepare what we pray will be a spiritually uplifting, encouraging and fun week.
